#289 - It Counts Because You Did It

Welcome To Another Week Of The Show:

What if I told you your pace is the least important thing about your workout… and focusing on it might actually be holding you back?

Then you need to hear this!

I am Coach Tadris of runtothebestyou.com, helping everyday people like YOU cross the finish line since 2013 — and wherever you are starting from…...... I got you.

Coach Tadris Core Message & Show Notes:

People always ask, “How did you do?”—and what they really mean is, “What was your time?”

But that is the wrong question.

It is not about how fast you did it.

It is about that you did it.

Did you finish?

Did you enjoy it?

Did you stay healthy?

If you can say yes to those three things, you are winning—every single time.

Talking points:

#1. You Finished

Let’s start here—because this is what most people overlook. You finished. That means you showed up, stayed with it, and got to the end. A lot of people never even start, and even more people quit when it gets uncomfortable. Finishing builds something deeper than fitness—it builds identity. You become someone who follows through.

#2. You Had Fun

Now this is the secret sauce. If you had fun, you are way more likely to come back and do it again. That is how consistency is built. Not through punishment, not through forcing yourself—but through actually enjoying the process. Fitness should not feel like something you survive… it should feel like something you experience.

#3. Injury Free

This is the long game. You cannot keep showing up if you are constantly hurt. Being injury free means you trained smart, listened to your body, and set yourself up to do it again tomorrow, next week, next month. That is how real progress happens.

CTA:

If you are listening to this right now, I want you to shift your mindset starting today.

Stop measuring your success by the clock.

Start measuring it by completion, enjoyment, and sustainability.

And if you are ready to build that kind of consistency into your life, come join us.

Come experience what it feels like to train with purpose, to have support, and to become the version of yourself that does not quit.

Your only goal for your next workout?

Finish. Have fun. Stay injury free.

Shout Out Of The Week

Katie LeNoir had FUN on the Philadelphia Broad Street Run

Shana Edlemann FINISHES Broad Street! Perfect photo for this episode.

Donna Cushlanis finished INJURY-FREE and took first place in her age group at the Jazmin T Bryant Brighter Day 5k in Washington Township, NJ.

HERE is what she says afterwards.

“I don’t find running fun.

But I do try to make running fun.

I ran with this guy the whole race. He was in front of me. Then I was in front of him. Back and forth.

We encouraged and trash-talked each other the whole time.

Never met him before.

Don’t know his name.

But we hugged like best friends for life at the end. And he cheered like crazy for me when I got my first-place age-group medal. 🏃🏾‍♂️🏃🏻‍♀️😁

My cameraman was Wayne.

With one mile left, I tried to get him to run with me.

He is a great sport. He jumped right in.

And lasted about twelve seconds. 🤣🤣

My coach wasn’t at this race with me. But I have to give him a shout-out.

Tadris Parker made me a runner. He encourages me to keep doing it and to push myself. And if I don’t, he pushes me! And then I yell at him for it. Haha.

Thank you Tadris for all these years of being my coach and all you do for so many runners and walkers to get and stay healthy and fit. I hate to admit it but you make running fun. 😊”

- Donna Cushlanis

Megan Wolsy-Flanagan also FINISHED, HAD FUN, & INJURY FREE at the Lincoln Tunnel 5k Challenge
